Assistive technology
foundations & exemplary practice
This website will serve as a "home base" as I delve into my investigation of universal design for learning resources, technology and best practices. As I gain new information and experience working with assistive technologies, I will update this site to use as a further reference hub. As a public school educator, I am keenly aware of the need to be able to teach all types of learners. Creating lesson plans that target "average" students is not realistic or beneficial to all students. Creating accommodations for struggling learners and extensions for keen or gifted learners "on the fly" is exhausting and not as meaningful for students. Students need to be motivated to learn and express themselves uniquely. My mission (or action plan) is to become better equipped to motivate all my students to learn and express their learning in a way that works for them and showcases their unique strengths and abilities!
